Tobacco Policy
Tobacco Free Environment
Purpose: To provide our patients and families, physicians, and staff with a healthy, safe, and efficient work environment, Great Falls Clinic Medical Center is a tobacco free environment. Our providers and employees share the responsibility for promoting and maintaining a healthy environment to those we serve.
Policy: To align ourselves with the philosophy of the Great Falls Clinic, Great Falls Clinic Medical Center has determined that the use of any form of tobacco is prohibited anywhere on our grounds. Areas where smoking is prohibited include:
- Patient Rooms
- Restrooms
- Lobby or Waiting Areas
- Parking Lot
- Any entrances
- Hallways
- Stairwells
- Break Areas
- Offices
- Training or conference rooms
- Procedure areas
- Work areas
Employees and visitors may not smoke in the parking areas, including cars or in any parking areas. All patients will be screened on admission for tobacco use. All patients will be given policy on Tobacco Free Environment in their admission packet. Smoking cessation information will be provided to patients who use nicotine and physician will be notified for an alternate option such as the patch or gum and order will be written. Patients who refuse to follow facility policy will sign an AMA
form.
